Matt Worley
Matthew Worley is Professor of Modern History at the University of Reading and a co-founder of the Subcultures Network. He has written widely on British politics and culture, publishing four books and numerous edited collections. As part of Crash! he has worked with Scott King on various art projects. He also collaborated with Steve Ignorant to produce References in 2018, a book of Steve’s lyrics for Crass, Slice of Life and other bands. Matt’s research on British punk-related cultures has been published across a range of journals, including Contemporary British History, History Workshop, Popular Music and Twentieth Century British History. A monograph, No Future: Punk, Politics and British Youth Culture, 1976–84, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2017. He is currently researching towards a book-length study of fanzines and recently contributed to the Subcultures Network’s Ripped, Torn and Cut: Pop, Politics and Punk Fanzines from 1976 (2018).
