Jessica Schwartz

Jessica A. Schwartz is an associate professor of musicology at UCLA. Schwartz's first monograph Radiation Sounds: Marshallese Music and Nuclear Silences (Duke University Press 2021) shares a punk methodology with two extant book projects, one about U.S. civil defense sound design and the other about punk as political pedagogy. Schwartz has published in the journals, Punk & Post-Punk, Music & Politics, American Quarterly, and Women and Music. Currently president of PSN USA, Schwartz goes by yxka in performance outlets, such as with the experimental collective, Phame, and hosts the Punkast Series, which premiered in Summer 2020.
