1. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
Is a full-length documentary of historical, musical and social content. It tells the story of the first punk and hardcore generations in the city of Madrid, focusing on its social influence.
2. SYNOPSIS
The total history of punk in Madrid: “Hippies, trendy-leftists and proto-punks”, the new wave, schisms and malice, elite punks against street attitude, posh punks vs. working class punk rockers, everybody against everybody, the arrival of political hardcore, squats, social movements... Amazing!
As a “music scene” movie, the film follows the “Development - Top - Schism parameters”, albeit in a very"from within" way. It is a documentary that traces the immediate prehistory of the Spanish capital punk subculture, presenting the first bands (Kaka de Luxe, Ramoncín...), the underground press, the freak movement... like growing tadpoles in a dry dam ("we had to invent everything").From there to the first punk sprouts, when “everything” was valid, rapidly to the first schisms, when “nothing” was valid: the clubs vetoing punks; elite punks against the street knowledge of bands such as PVP, La Broma de Satán, Espasmódicos and La UVI; posh punks vs. working class punk rockers; police harassment; New Wave; the arrival of hardcore, the politics and the squats. 5. DIRECTOR’S BIO
David Álvarez García Filmmaker and Audiovisual Language professor at IE University.
He has been making documentaries since 2003. His first project was "Panorama de actualidad", a series on "forgotten conflicts" (indigenous movement in Bolivia, antipersonnel mines, child recruitment ...) for Onda 6 TV. Then, he worked on the popular TVE show "Spaniards around the World" and its version for Valencian TV ( "Valencians pel mon"). For a few years he worked as a screenwriter on musical programs. After making some video clips and short films, in 2009 he made his first long documentary "God save arena rock" about the difficulties of organizing a European tour by an underground band called Muletrain, They won a prize in the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
He has made several documentary short films about Spanish socio-political issues ("Sin pastor no hay rebaño”, “La muerte del bar español y la invasión del plato cuadrado”, “Me gustan las cosas nuevas"...)
6. ELEVENTH FLOOR BIO
Eleventh Floor is an initiative open to all kinds of projects and ideas that can be transformed into audiovisual content. Founded as a cooperative business, its founding members are David Álvarez García, Sara Cort Casabona, César Fresneda and Manuel Jaime Carretero. University fellows and collatorators in several jobs, in 2014 they decided to formalize the initiative in the form a cooperative to increase the volume of their projects and the quality of the content made, as well as creating an horizontal structure that takes into account all opinions equally. Since then, the company has combined corporate works with documentaries and other cinematographic projects.
